Not Once, Not Twice But Thrice by John Marlon Molinos

Artistry, Competence, and Excellence, this was the theme of GVCFI in joining the 4th Culinary Festival and 14th Anniversary of Ace Super Market and Chef’s Haven. Indeed, GVCFI pave the way in becoming Artistic, Competent, and Excellent. This has been proved by the Hotel and Restaurant Mgt. And Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Mgt. Students last August 21-23, 2009.

The students from these courses have brought home once again a pride and honor to our institution. This culinary festival has Ten Events, which are the Table Setting, Booth Design, Basket Arrangement, Singing and Dancing Chefs and waiters, Audio Visual Presentation, Cake Decorating, Cooking Demo, Table Skirting, Bartending and Synchronized Flaring.

These are the events that our school has to won during the said competition to still reign in the title. Just like the last year’s competition, we cannot deny the fact that every school has their own preparations. Here in our institution, you can see that the HRM department (the toque republic) is very busy during this month in preparing for the said battle. All the hard work of the participants specially on GVCFI is definitely undeniable.

In this year’s event, there are six schools who has joined the Culinary Festival of Ace Centerpiont. Namely; the Science and Technology Institute (STI), Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU), Marbel Institute of Technology (MIT), Regency Polytechnic College(RPC), Southern Philippines Technical Institute (SPTI), and the Green Valley College Foundation, Inc. these are the schools who are willing to take the risk in winning all the event, and these schools are very much aggressive in getting the crown away from GVCFI. But we’re not giving it away so easily.

The culinary competition is a very tough fight between all of the schools but GVCFI won’t allow them to be the over-all champion of this year’s culinary festival. Just like any other competition, you win some and you lose some. We have won the Gold Medal in Cooking Demo, Booth Design, Table Skirting, Synchronized Flaring, Bartending, And Singing and Dancing Chef’s and Waters. We also won the Silver Medal in Audio Visual Presentation, Table Setting Basket Arrangement and Cake Decorating.

It is a good thing that we are settling for Gold and Silver Medal because the Judging in becoming the Over-all Champion is through counting how many golds does the school has. Just like we expected, our school is the one who has won the most gold during the whole duration of this competition which made us the over-all Champion of the 4th Culinary Festival and 14th Anniversary of Ace Super Market and Chef’s Haven for the Third Time. This is the Grand slam year for our school. Really is the HRM and BSHRM students brought a Grand Slam Pride and Honor for our School.

We did a Great job Guys.
