Breakthroughs by Anakim Bagaipo

Amidst the hardships and difficulties that the Health and Science Department of The Green Valley College Foundation, Inc. encountered the past years, the department is still rolling to give the students quality heath-related education. Improvements are inevitable to strengthen and solidify the courses under the department. The facilities are updated and modernized based on the requirements of CHED and TESDA. Furthermore, the people who handle the department are exceptional. They are very enthusiastic and greatly motivated to serve the students effectively.


The Dean, Madam Lerma M. Valenzuela, is a Registered Midwife, a BSN graduate, and a Masters of Education holder. She has been in the academe for 27 years. She is also dynamic, resourceful, and has a strong will to really maintain the integrity of the department. Likewise, she is a catalyst of change, which results to the betterment of the faculty and facilities such as, Amphitheater in the Fundamental Laboratory, sophisticated set-up of equipment for different procedures, and etc.


Moreover, the clinical instructors possessed outstanding qualifications and credentials.


Ana Kim Y. Bagaipo is a graduate of Ateneo de Davao University in 2003 with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting and Brokenshire College, Davao City in 2006 with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is a Registered Nurse and an NCLEX-RN passer in the state of California, USA. Furthermore, she is also an International English Language Test System passer. She had her clinical exposure in one of the best hospitals in Davao City, The Davao Medical School Foundation Hospital. Another remarkable mentor is Adrian M. Escarlan. He took up his Bachelor of Science in Nursing in Davao Doctors College and graduated in 2006. He is a registered nurse in the Philippines and also in the state of California, USA. He is as well certified in Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Likewise, he is an International English Language Test System passer. In addition, the two clinical instructors are NC II passers under the Qualification of Health Care Services as well as have Trainer and Assessor Qualification under TESDA.


Another clinical instructor who is incredibly competent in the field of Midwifery is Janet M. Montenegro. She has been in the profession for 16 years. 9 years was spent in Davao Medical Center as a clinical instructor in the Special Area - Delivery Room and 7 years as a staff in Alterado General Hospital in Davao City. It is worth mentioning that the people who man the department have acquired experience necessary to run the department efficiently.
