Braver, Bolder - Why We Do What We Do

There are so many who would carelessly judge our institution. They question our motives, our credibility, and our capabilities. There are so many who would like to put us down. “You have so many things to learn” “You are small and young, you cannot do it!” “Who are you compared to us?”

As One family, I say that we should embrace all of these criticisms with acceptance and hope. For the past few years, we have proven so many of our critics wrong and we will continue to do so. Call it a miracle, but only that could possibly explain the meteoric rise of our institution from being a small training center in the 4th floor of the Green Valley building to now having a campus with an ongoing construction which is expected to triple the existing capacity upon completion.

Clearly, based on the results that we have produced, we are the fastest growing educational institution in Koronadal. Such success, however, comes at a price. That is, to be the subject of the envy and disbelief.

Given that, we ask ourself, “Why then do Green Valley persist amidst the the challenges?” The answer is simple: THE REALIZATION OF THE YOUTH’s DREAMS. Profound? Maybe. But I cannot provide any other explanation.

I regularly talk to so many parents. And if there is a commonality that I observe, it would be their sincere desire for their sons and daughters to succeed. There is nothing melodramatic about it. The reality is that Green Valley share the same vision with these parents.

We see the Green Valley students and graduates being drivers of development to their communities. We see Green Vallians being sources of inspiration. We see Green Valley students as smart-workers who would persist and persevere just like their alma mater.

I take pride in the accomplishments of the students. The HRM Department *cheers to Mam Graziel and Marlon * has proven to our community that they are truly passionate in their field. I take pride in the fact that I have students like Karl and Yellen who would go out of their way to help us in our advocacy as an institution. I take in pride in having Sir Daria as one of our faculty whose very creative. I take pride in having Sir Larry as being a very loyal and very accommodating laboratory in charge. I take pride in being with Mam Azumbrado and Atty Tagaloguin -- their exuberance to share what they know even after their tiring day at work is simply admirable.

Unfortunately, we can never claim that we are best. I have studied in the top 3 universities here in the Philippines and in universities based abroad and we have much catching up to do. But in terms of our commitment to being the best given what we have, I say that we are.

We have so many projects lined up in the future. We will also see so many reforms in our community. All of which are part of our goal to grow bolder and braver. There is a need for us to be more proactive. There is a need for us to leap if we are serious about accomplishing our vision. Are we now being ambitious as a community? Yes, we are! And I dare say that there is nothing wrong with being ambitious -- for our ambitions are rooted on the fundamental desire to realize the dreams of every Green Vallian.

Will there be more challenges in future? Yes! But just like how we approached it today, we will face it with courage. We will face it with trust that we will come out of it victorious and proud.
