ASA.com holds ASA.com Month by Karl Alegre
The Accounting Students Affairs or ASA.com has celebrated its ASA.com month last August 2009. The theme of the celebration was “Breaking Barriers, Going Beyond the Limits.” This event was a month long event that featured a Career Orientation Symposium, a Seminar on Entrepreneurship and Central Banking, a Sports Fest, and a pageant. The officers of the ASA prepared for almost a month for the event. The organization has done its best to ensure that the ASA.com month was a success. From sponsorship packages to speaker invites, nothing was left to chance. All the officers did what they were support to do.
The career symposium was held at the Green Valley AVR. The theme for the event was “Up Close and Personal: Your Career.” The keynote speakers were Mrs. Matilde Azumbrado and Mr. Ramil Jamin. The speakers discussed the potential careers of being a business student as well as what the students were going to expect from the subjects that they were going to encounter. The students participated by throwing questions at the speakers. The seminar on Entrepreneurship was held at the Knights of Colombus Koronadal Council House. The theme for the event was “Entrepreneurship, Central Banking and their Effects on the National Economy.” The guest speakers were Mr. RJ Sustiguer, the Academic VP of GVCFI, and Mr. Henry Franial, CPA, the branch manager of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, General Santos City Branch.
The sports fest was held at the GVCFI Campus and the Brgy. Sto Nino covered area. There were OPG’s (Original PInoy Games) an Amazing Race (Green Valley Version) as well as a Basket ball and Volleyball tournament. The students were for the duration of the event regressed back to their childhood days, when they argued over petty things like the way the slipper was tossed in the Slipper game events, or the way. The highlight of the event was the Pageant. The search for Mr. and Ms. ASA.com Month was a huge success. There was a large crowd turnout, and the audience seemed to be entertained by the event. Overall, the ASA.com month was a huge success, thanks to the determination of its officers and the cooperation of its members. Surely, the ASA.com is one of the most promising organizations in this school today.
